“I work in the interface of activism and contemporary art, using sarcasm as a tool to raise questions and awareness about the society and human behavior. I’m open to the use of different medias and resources to achieve the visions I have for the projects I get involved with. Normally the end result takes some kind of a visual form.”
Hanna Arvela’s background is in comics and illustration. She got her graphic design Bachelor’s degree from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and M.A. from Aalto university, majoring in visual culture and contemporary art and minoring in audiovisual storytelling and dramaturgy. Her works have participated in international exhibitions and festivals, but she aims to exhibit also outside the institutional art scene. Currently her art is mainly video related.
