“I work in the interface of activism and contemporary art, using sarcasm as a tool to raise questions and awareness about the society and human behavior. I’m open to the use of different medias and resources to achieve the visions I have for the projects I get involved with. Normally the end result takes some kind of a visual form.”
Hanna Arvela (b. 1981) works mainly with video, but her background is in comics, illustration and graphic design. Her works have participated in international exhibitions and festivals, but she aims to exhibit also outside the institutional art scene. She got her graphic design Bachelor’s degree from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and M.A. from Aalto university, majoring in visual culture and contemporary art and minoring in audiovisual storytelling and dramaturgy.
